A specialty of Estonian Lace knitting are nupps (which rhymes with soup). They are super pretty, but on the wrong side row you have to purl 5 or 7 stitches together and that is no fun. There is an easy solution, though – make the nupps using a crochet hook! In this tutorial I will show you how.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To work a nupp the usual way, you knit a stitch, leave the original on the needle, yarn over, knit the original stitch again, leaving it on the needle, yarn over and knit the original stitch once more – now you have 5 stitches made from one. (Or repeat once more and make 7 stitches for an even bigger nupp). On the wrong side row, when you come back to your nupp, purl the 5 (or 7) stitches together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Normalerweise wird f\u00fcr eine Noppe eine Masche rechts gestrickt und die Originalmasche auf der linken Nadel gelassen, ein Umschlag, wieder rechts und die Originalmasche auf der linken Nadel lassen, noch ein Umschlag, und noch eine Masche rechts. Jetzt hat man aus einer Masche 5 gemacht (oder man wiederholt es noch einmal mehr und macht 7 Maschen aus einer f\u00fcr eine noch gr\u00f6ssere Noppe). In der R\u00fcckreihe m\u00fcssen diese 5 (oder 7) Maschen links zusammengestrickt werden. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
