Else’s Estonian Lace Socks

I’ve been thinking a lot during the last few days… I don’t know about you, but the times surely feel depressing to me. Afghanistan, Haiti, Covid, Climate Change, so much hatred in the world – everything seems to be falling apart. And I’m sitting here, safely in my own home in a safe country, thinking about publishing a sock pattern. Is that right? And how safe is my country really? I’m a straight, white cis woman – but fact is, lgbtq people in Switzerland still are not allowed to marry. Woman have been allowed to vote here since 1971, in one canton even since 1991 (can you believe that?????).

We’re voting about marriage for everyone in September and I hope with all my heart that it will be a resounding yes.

To make a long story short, I’ve decided that not publishing my sock pattern won’t help anyone either, and chances are that, just like me, knitting means comfort for you. And my pattern might be able to do even more – so I will donate 50 % of all proceeds to the UNHCR.

If you are still with me (I hope you are 🙂 ), Else’s Estonian Lace Socks are now available on Ravelry and Payhip. The paid pattern in my store has three sizes and two heel options to ensure they fit you perfectly. Right now, the instructions are for a cuff down version. Toe up will be added in September.

The pattern features an easy lace pattern – not too hard, but still interesting enough to maybe keep your mind from wandering to places you don’t want to be right now.

Until August 27th, end of day, the pattern is 25 % off with the coupon code Else25.
