Betty

Image

This is a photo of my great-grandmother, Betty. I remember many happy times as a child, when I was allowed to spend the night at her house. She made me custard with strawberries (which I still love to this day), we played Ludo or watched soccer. Yes, she loved soccer and would get up in the middle of the night to watch a match.

Although she died more than twenty years ago, I still miss her.

A while ago I was knitting a sample for a new design that did not have a name yet, and like a bolt out of the blue it came to me – name it Betty. Who knows, maybe Oma Betty, as I called her, is looking down on me and likes what I’m doing.

So, say hello to my new shawl pattern: Betty

Betty is a faroese shawl featuring two different lace patterns in the body. Knitted from the top down, it has a lacy knit-on edging. It offers charted as well as written instructions and two options for cast-on. Additional shoulder increase in the first 46 rows shape it so it stays on your shoulders.
