When he reached the moon is a top-down triangular lace shawl featuring a series of different lace patterns to make the knitting interesting. Worked in mohair at a loose gauge, it is wonderfully warm yet light as a cloud and big enough to snuggle into when you are in need of a little bit of comfort.

It is also beautiful worked in smooth yarn, at the same or a tighter gauge.

It is inspired by one of my favourite songs, „When I reached the moon“ by Morten Harket. All my designs are accompanied by his beautiful voice, so I had to name one of them after one of his songs.

The pattern is available on RavelryCraftsy and Patternfish.

Materials:

4 stitch markers

Beige/green sample:

Garnstudio Drops Kid-Silk (25 g [0.9 oz], 200 m [219 yd], 75% mohair, 25% silk), 4 hanks #20, Light Beige (Color A); 1 hank #18 Apple Green (Color B)

Or approx. 652 m [713 yd] laceweight yarn of your choice (588 m [643 yd]) of Color A, 64 m [70 yd]) of Color B

4 mm [US 6] 80 cm (32”) circular needle, or a size that gives you a fabric you like.

(Designer’s note: I only needed 3 hanks of Color A, but I had only 0.19 g left. You can make more stripes (or a wider stripe) of Color B if you don’t want to buy a fourth hank.)

Or approx. 580 m [635 yd] laceweight yarn of your choice (420 m [460 yd]) of Color A, 160 m [175 yd]) of Color B

3.25 mm [US 3] 80 cm (32”) circular needle, or a size that gives you a fabric you like.
